Unlike last year where my return was spent on paying off loans, this year it’s going towards new winter wheels. Aw yeah. Anyone else got their taxes done?

I did mine in January. I saved my refund for a while, then I bought a watch a couple months later.

I did ours some time ago and we owe some. Shitty but that’s how it goes sometimes. We pulled money out of RRSP’s due to my losing my job.

Did mine in January. Put the refund towards property taxes. The leftover went into my savings. I know, I’m boring... BUT I have a bit of a cushion just in case things go tits up.

Been done since the beginning of Feb. Most of my refunds went to paying off my trip to the ER in December (slipped on black ice, messed up my knee).

Usually theres a nice federal refund which is eaten into by the state. I am reminded now why I am grateful for my state!

One of the nice things about living in NZ is you don’t have to do tax returns 95% of the time, if you’re a regular wage slave . We have a simple enough tax system that the IRD can just work it out without your input, u nless you’ve had a major life change like having a baby. That also means no noticeable refunds or tax bills, more often than not - I got a whole $1.57 back last year

Different story if you’re self employed or have substantial not-taxed-at-source income like rental property or overseas investments though.

The US extended the tax deadline to July 15 2020. I’m doing mine this week, as I think I’ll be getting around a 1,000 return and I want to spend that money on car parts.
